The History of the Farm
Southlands Farm was conceptualized in the spring of 2008, and immediatly raised beds were built, orchards planted, and ditches dug. The vision was to intesively farm our family backyard in a sustainble way to demonstrate to neighbours that true food security is possible within the city.

Three years later we have expanded the farm onto a new site at the corner of 51st and Balaclava, and provide urban agriculture education to the public in the form of ag workshops, YoungFarmers summer camps for kids, a pumpkin patch, petting zoo, and cider pressing.
